Eric Wright Civil Engineering (EWCE), part of the Eric Wright Group, were one of a number of businesses to support the charity match between Cockermouth Cricket Club and PCA England Masters, made up of current and former cricket international stars.
The match was held to celebrate Cockermouth’s recovery from the devastating floods and raise funds for Cockermouth Cricket Club. EWCE has worked on a number of local projects to repair flood-damaged structures and safeguard others from the effects of future flooding. The team is still working with the County Council undertaking highway works, bridge reconstruction and protection works.
EWCE were joined at the cricket match and fun day by guests from Cumbria County Council, AECOM, Curtins and PBA Ecology.
Cockermouth won the cricket match, defeating the PCA England Masters team that included international players such as Ashes winners Steve Harmison and Graham Onions. The event was also attended by local cricketing hero Ben Stokes.
Diane Bourne from Eric Wright Civil Engineering, said: “It was a great day that was enjoyed by all who attended. Supporting local charities and organisations is part of the Eric Wright way and this is another way to strengthen our relationship with the Cumbrian town that was hit hard during the floods.”
