A Lancashire restaurant which opened it’s doors a little over 5 months ago has entered The Good Food Guide 2018 – Top 50 UK Restaurants.
Moor Hall, which is situated on Preston Road, Aughton, is one of only 2 restaurants that opened in 2017 to be included in the list, and the only new opening outside London to make the guide.
Moor Hall was acquired in 2015 by Andy and Tracey Bell, in partnership with friend and business partner Mark Birchall. The site, which has recently undertaken a multi million pound renovation, is set in five acres of breathtaking gardens with views to the south over a beautiful lake, said to be the remains of a medieval moat.
A grade II* listed gentry house of mid-sixteenth century origin, Moor Hall is said to be one of the most important listed buildings in the UK. Moor Hall was first recorded in 1282 and in 1533 it was acquired by Peter Stanley of Bickerstaffe, who built the present manor house.
Chorley born partner and Chef Patron Mark, was trained at Runshaw College, and was most recently Executive Chef of 2 Michelin Star L’Enclume in Cumbria.
He has previously won the Roux Scholarship, the premier competition for chefs in the UK in 2011. He also worked at El Celler de Can Roca, Girona, a 3 Michelin Star Restaurant owned by the Roca Brothers, which was twice voted the world’s best restaurant.
