Leyland Mother and Daughter’s Sweet New Venture

Sweet Sugar Dimples, a chic boutique bakery, is the icing on the cake for a Leyland mother and daughter who have turned a butty shop into an exciting new business.

Lesley Smith, with the help of her daughter Chloe, opened the new boutique bakery on Stanley Road, Farington at the beginning of August.

Leslie, a former cake decorator at Broughton-based baker Lathoms, said it was a case of ‘now or never’ when she saw on Facebook that the former butty shop shop was available.

Lesley told Lancashire Means Business “I had been making cakes as a hobby and was doing it as a full time job before at Lathoms, but when I saw on Facebook that the shop was up for sale I said if I don’t do it now, I never will.”

The shop sells the likes of home made cup cakes, cake jars, flap jacks and brownies, but will also serve as the base for her wedding cake business.

Her daughter, mother of two Chloe, helps in the shop when she can, but is expecting her third child in September, and will no doubt have her hands full for a while!

Leslie said ” I am very proud of the support we have had to make this dream a reality. After over 30 years in the cake industry myself, it’s amazing to now have my own little shop. It’s so nice to see our efforts are being noticed in the local community and we are so excited to see we’re this journey takes us”

As Lancashire Means Business is a believer that sometimes a picture paints a thousand words, we thought we would finish off with a few photos of some of the scrummy yummy creations on offer at Sweet Sugar Dimples.
